Not sure if i've missed something really basic or not here however i'm currently trying to set up a PoC using two win10 machines one hosting splunk and all the components and the other acting as the agent. Checking the logs i can see the lin "successfully initialized transport" to the Splunk server address however when it attepts to send data to the server the log shows Curlsend, sending to host http://win10srv:8088 failed with: Empty Reply from Server.
